It Used To Be My Best Event
Sleep. Man, I was Liz Doughty, Master of Sleeping. But the last couple of weeks or so, I've been the Master of Laying Awake and Feeling Nauseous, alternating with Liz Doughty, Master of Waking Up at the Ass Crack of Dawn and Not Being Able to Go Back to Sleep. It's really starting to catch up with me and also, getting very old.

Please, sleep fairy, stop by my house before we are with child and get no more sleep, ever.

I've been there. A few years ago, I had the kind of insomnia where, no matter when I went to sleep, I woke up around 3:30 am. EVERY DAY. For more than four months.

Dammit, I like sunrises, but after 100 consecutive, they lost something.

I found a few things that helped:

1) Only get in bed if you're planning to sleep (or fool around). Don't read, or lay there and fret, etc. It puts negative associations into your brain.

2) No caffeine or stimulants within 3 hours of bedtime.

3) A light set of exercises near bedtime helps to relax you.

4) These days, there's Ambien and other nice, non-harsh ways to help you get some sleep.

Hope it gets better. Exhaustion really bites.
