Why We Went

Because my parents wanted to. We flew from San Jose to Phoenix, then met my parents at the airport. They'd come in from lovely Columbus, Ohio and were Touretting the moment we arrived. It's just their way, talking incessantly about every one of our surroundings as we tried to get our checked baggage and find our rental cars.

The drive to Sedona took over 2 hours, I was so tired I almost fell asleep at the wheel but perked right up when we found a little bit of heaven: Cliff Castle Casino. For once, I won, getting $100.25 out of a quarter slot machine.

Visiting the Cathedral of the Holy Cross. As if there are unholy crosses. It's built into the side of this rock and is pretty nifty in it's own right. We lit candles for Ellie, something I've been meaning to do for a while.

Much of the scenery in Sedona has something to do with rocks, and brush. Many of the rocks look like this. No wait, they all do.

We went on a Pink Jeep tour of rocks. Only our Jeep was green. We did stop to see some scenery that included (you guessed it!) Rocks! and water.

The scenery was thrilling.

Look how excited I was about rocks! Rocks rock!

GODDAMN! Those rocks are great!

We stayed at Canyon Villa, which among other things, featured a pool that's heated to 84° year-round. Our room had an Asian theme that Andrea was fond of.

No way! More rocks!

The last day of our trip, Andrea and I took off early for Phoenix, where we met up with some of my Beagle Buddies and picked up our newest arrival, Rainie Roo the basset hound.
