Confession

These days, everything hurts and I seriously cannot remember what it felt like to not be pregnant. I know that's part of the deal and that our reward at the end of all this will be the world's most amazing baby, but today? Today I just hurt.

It Finally Happened

This weekend, at 33 weeks, I heard the following:
  • Looks like you found the baby!
  • Are you sure there aren't twins in there?
Thanks. Those are exactly the kinds of things I want to hear right now.

Not Fair, Seriously

After an 11 week reprieve from my old friend nausea, guess who's back? Not slim shady, but the joy that was the first half of this pregnancy: nausea! Apparently as my stomach runs out of room, this is normal. Fucking great.

For each of those 11 weeks sans nausea, I told Andrea that whatever came along (back pain, sore this, sore that) it ALL beat the hell out of nausea. But now, joy of joys, I have all of those things AND nausea.

Nice Noggin!

Last night was band night, officially the last bastion of my extracurricular activities, now that I'm 4 months into my hockey hiatus. It's getting harder and harder to play, since my sax is getting a little farther away from my body every week. The irony is that I'm enjoying making music more than I have in a long time. Since before I started playing hockey, now that I think of it.

Anyway, a band board meeting, a full rehearsal and a shorter sax quintet rehearsal added up to me getting home around 10:15 last night, completely exhausted. I laid down in bed the instant I got home and was treated to a multitude of kicks and faketractions.

That's all normal, I'm used to being kicked at night. But apparently last night, Murrita was feeling a bit cramped so she must have pushed down with her arms, and in turn pushed her little noggin straight out from my belly. The outline of her head was unmistakeable and man, IT HURT!

But Andrea got to see that unmistakeable outline, and to pat our daughter on the head.
